A&T's long-awaited new residence hall opens to students this fall.

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (June 16, 2026) – North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Bluford Residence Hall on Thursday, July 16, at 9:30 a.m.

Bluford Residence Hall, at Bluford and Nocho streets and across from Harrison Auditorium, is N.C. A&T’s 16th on-campus residence hall and its first new dormitory in nearly two decades.

A&T first announced plans for Bluford Residence Hall in 2018 after the state General Assembly approved the $64 million project. The University of North Carolina Board of Governors issued about $59 million in bonds on behalf of A&T in 2023 to pay for its construction. Led by the university’s Office of Facilities, Division of Business and Finance and N.C. A&T Real Estate Foundation personnel and students contributed to the project’s scope and design.

Bluford Residence Hall’s four floors, each with its own full kitchen, have 405 student beds in 66 two- and four-bedroom suites for a total of 94 traditional double rooms, as well as two staff apartments. It includes amenities such as a gaming room, multipurpose room, private courtyard, on-site laundry and retail operations on the first floor and close proximity to academic classrooms, Williams Dining Hall, F.D. Bluford Library and student gathering spots.

The nation’s largest historically Black college or university for 12 consecutive years, A&T recorded 14,407 students enrolled for the spring 2026 semester. About 6,000 students live in on-campus housing.
