N.C. A&T Becomes Home to Black Sportswriters Hall of Fame, Celebrating Pioneers

Hall of Fame sportswriter Rob Parker is bringing the Black Sportswriters Hall of Fame to the campus of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. The inaugural class will honor three of the nation’s most respected Black sportswriters in a special induction ceremony, supported by N.C. A&T’s student chapters of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and the Associated Press Sports Editors.

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University rising sophomore public relations majors Renee Douglas and Steven Matthews Jr., along with rising junior multimedia journalism majors Chrysta Nichols and Gabrielle Heyward, have been chosen to participate in the McClatchy Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Internship.

N.C. A&T’s Department of Journalism and Mass Communication to Honor First Hall of Fame Inductees

Seven distinguished alumni and servant leaders will become the first Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JOMC) Hall of Fame inductees Friday, Oct. 28, during a 10:30 a.m. ceremony in the General Classroom Building Auditorium. A reception will follow the induction ceremony in Crosby Hall Room 217. The department plans to make the Hall of Fame induction an annual event during Homecoming week.
