Unusually strong storms are forecast to move through the Piedmont Triad tomorrow (Monday, March 16) and are expected to bring with them significant winds, damaging hail and isolated tornadoes during the afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service. “ There is a strong probability of widespread damage, with wind gusts as high as 74 mph. Winds of 74 mph are classified as hurricane strength.
The NWS threat level has been increased to High, with the greatest impact forecast between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. tomorrow, according to this afternoon’s NWS update.
Students, faculty and professional staff of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University are encouraged to take precautions tonight to ensure that they and their property remain safe throughout this weather event. Supervisors and employees should be in dialogue regarding tomorrow afternoon’s weather. Supervisors are encouraged to exercise their best judgment on allowing the option to leave early and make it home before the storm for those who are in close proximity to the campus and allowing employees who commute long distances the ability to work remotely.
