Nail ‘93 Named Interim Associate Vice Provost for Enrollment Management

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 18, 2026) – A senior student success and workforce readiness executive with more than 25 years of leadership experience has been appointed to serve as North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s interim associate vice provost for Enrollment Management.

Dawn M. NailDawn M. Nail ‘93, Ed.D., is filling this role for the second time in her tenure at her alma mater, during which she has demonstrated an ability to translate data into action, align cross‑sector partners and lead large, mission‑driven portfolios in complex environments. She also has been a trusted advisor to executive leadership, offering deep expertise in learner engagement, readiness pathways, analytics and systems‑level improvement.

Nail previously served as interim associate vice provost for Enrollment Management from January 2022 to February 2023, when she also served as head of undergraduate admissions.

Since February 2023, Nail has served as executive director of A&T’s Center for Academic Excellence where she has provided enterprise leadership for a centralized student success and engagement portfolio, establishing shared standards, service models and performance expectations supporting persistence, progression and graduation across academic units.

She first began working for the center as a retention advisor in March 2015 before becoming director of training and workshop development services in February 2017, then associate director in February 2018  and interim director from February 2020 to January 2022. Additionally, she was a Freshman Studies/Student Success lecturer at the center from March 2015 through December 2021.

Nail has served as a lecturer in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences since fall 2025 and served as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences from January 2005 through December 2014.

Nail earned a B.A. in public relations from A&T, a masters in corporate communication from Austin Peay State University and a Ph.D. in educational leadership and management from Capella University. She is charter advisor of both Tri-Alpha First-Generation National Honor Society and Tau Sigma National Transfer Honor Society, an active member of the National Academic Advising Association and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society since 2016.
