In light of the large winter storm moving across the eastern United States and its significant expected impact in the Piedmont Triad, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will move to Condition 2: Suspended Operations at 3 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 24) through 11:59 p.m. on Monday (Jan. 26). The university will provide notice if conditions require further changes in operational status.
All classes scheduled during that span are cancelled. Students should confer with faculty about any testing, assignments or class activities that fall within that span.
As a reminder, under Condition 2: Suspended Operations, the university remains open on a very limited basis, but has formally suspended all but mandatory operations. Mandatory employees must report to or remain at work. All other employees may not report to work or must leave the workplace.
Under Condition 2, employees must use leave time for any work missed, unless authorized to work off site or the governor issues an order permitting leave with pay. Refer to the attached chart for further information regarding adverse weather and operations conditions.
The National Weather Service forecasts at least 2 inches of snow and sleet and accumulation of ice on roadways along with temperatures expected to remain below freezing until next Wednesday (Jan. 28).
North Carolina A&T employees and students are encouraged to refer to the Winter Weather Preparedness memo e-mailed to campus yesterday afternoon and take precautions today to prepare for the storm. Snow and ice are expected to make car travel challenging beginning Saturday afternoon, so please arrange to pick up any necessary food and supplies today.
Closely monitor your A&T email account, as well as the university’s website and social media, for further information as it becomes available. Remember: Only trust guidance regarding A&T operations that comes directly from the university.
