EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Nov. 25, 2025) – An accomplished professional with deep experience in governmental and higher education administration and strong connections to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is returning to the university to serve as associate vice chancellor for Administration and Strategic Operations.
Shannon Trapp, M.Ed., director of Community Partnerships and Engagement for Durham County Government in North Carolina, will also serve as board professional, supporting the North Carolina A&T Board of Trustees. She previously served as assistant chief of staff for A&T from 2017 to 2021.
Trapp returns to a university that has grown significantly in enrollment, research activity, facilities and partnerships, creating a growing need for stronger oversight in operations and administration. Trapp earned her B.A. from Shaw University in 2008 and earned her M.Ed. in higher education from Abilene Christian University in 2012.
She held administrative roles in emergency management and student affairs for Shaw before serving for three years as associate chief of staff for the University of North Carolina Greensboro, ending in 2017 when she began work at A&T.
Following her four years at A&T, Trapp served as chief of staff at Edward Waters University and director of Historically Black College and University Outreach for the N.C. Department of Transportation before being named chief of staff for Durham County Government and later director of Community Partnerships and Engagement.
She begins work in the new role at A&T today.
