EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Nov. 20, 2025) – The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JOMC) at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University has formed an Advisory Board in with a mission to elevate student development, learning experience and to support continuous academic excellence within the academic unit.
The JOMC Advisory Board will assist in furthering the work of the JOMC Department, which is housed in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS). Its members will offer insights and advice to the department chair regarding programs and policies; furthering the work of the academic unit through philanthropy and engagement with the faculty and students; and serving as ambassadors for the university as well as the department.
The board is comprised of program alumni in a wide range of professional fields in communication and media. They represent the three concentrations of the JOMC major: mass media production, multimedia journalism and public relations. Board members are:
They will work directly with Masudul Biswas, Ph.D., JOMC Department chair, and Matthew Evans, CAHSS director of development. Biswas and Evans will also serve on the board.
The JOMC Department at A&T is one of three Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC)-accredited programs in North Carolina. Globally, 119 such programs are accredited by the ACEJMC. Nationally, this program is the second-largest producer of Black graduates in the field of communication, journalism and related programs, according to The EDU Ledger, and serves more than 430 majors. The department houses radio station WNAA 90.1 FM, the university’s television studio, and student newspaper, The A&T Register.
