A&T Welcomes Third Cohort of Defense Civilian Training Corps

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Oct. 29, 2025) – A development professional with a near 30-year career in fundraising leadership for major universities from Connecticut to California is the new vice chancellor for University Advancement for North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
Tamara Michel Josserand, M.Ed., MBA, vice president for Development at the University of Washington in Seattle, will assume the new role in East Greensboro in mid-December. The Division of University Advancement that she will lead includes Alumni Relations, Development, Donor Relations, Annual and Leadership Giving, Corporate and Foundation Engagement, Gift Planning and Advancement Operations.
Josserand’s career includes stints at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Yale University, Northwestern University, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Redlands. She has served as a professional consultant, and in numerous leadership roles, including director of development, director of advancement, senior consultant and vice president of both university advancement and development.
In her current role, Josserand leads a team of more than 400 fundraising and advancement professionals. Over the past two fiscal years, her teams have raised nearly $1.5 billion in gifts, pledges, private grants and requests. She also oversaw a successful organizational assessment and restructure of the entire group of UW development professionals, consolidating 27 teams.

Martin II. “She brings exceptional fund-raising potential, particularly with regard to transformational gift development that has the potential to significantly grow our endowment. Her deep sense of purpose and proven leadership expertise has been shaped by a remarkable journey of perseverance and achievement that reflects the transformative power of education.”
Josserand holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, an M.Ed. from Harvard University and a B.A. from Connecticut College.
Her service leadership includes extensive work with the DuSable Heritage Foundation, a cultural, historical and aid organization that supports the people of Haiti. She has assisted in medical relief and education support for missions throughout Haiti. She has also served as a board member for the Real Journey academy foundation as well as the National Able Network.
Additionally, Josserand has served as a coach, consultant and faculty member for numerous professional development trainings, conferences and activities while serving as an independent consultant, as well as with the Council for Advancement and Support of Education locally and nationally.
