EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Jan. 14, 2025) – After a one-day delay, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University launched the spring 2025 semester Tuesday as thousands of students swarmed campus to go to their first classes, pick up books and settle in to campus residences.
New student orientation and residence hall move-in had been scheduled for last weekend, but both had to be postponed as winter weather brought hazardous driving conditions to campus and area roads. Instead, orientation started virtually Saturday and continued today with sessions that focused on getting familiar with student services and campus itself.
Move-in took place Monday, as more than 6,000 students moved into residence halls and North Carolina A&T apartment residences. A&T Housing and Residence Life staff hustled to compress into a single day move-in activities that originally were scheduled for two.
A&T enrollment this year is 14,311, the largest in the university’s history. The 2024-25 school year also marks A&T’s 11th consecutive year as America’s largest HBCU. A&T’s phenomenal growth is being driven by the university’s success as an exponential research institution while still delivering a highly competitive educational experience for a lower cost to attend than any other doctoral research university.
In addition to taking in their first classes, the newest Aggies will have immediate opportunities to jump into campus culture.
The A&T men’s basketball team faces off against conference foe Monmouth on Thursday at 7 p.m., while the women’s team plays conference opponent Drexel on Friday at 7 p.m., with both games taking place at the Corbett Sports Center on campus.
Later in the month, the campus will be the site of celebrations honoring the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., astronaut Ronald E. McNair ‘71 and the A&T Four, whose sit-in protest in 1960 captivated the nation.
