EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Nov. 18, 2024) — North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is a hosting lecture series to commemorate International Education Week (IEW), an initiative of the U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. Department of Education dedicated to celebrating the benefits of international education and academic exchange opportunities.
“For The Culture,” a fireside chat encouraging historically Black college and university (HBCU) students to pursue international engagement opportunities, will be held Thursday, Nov. 21, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm in Frye Hall, Room 101. This lecture event will be hosted by 2024 Payne Graduate Fellow Cabral Jeter ’23 and 2024 Gilman International Scholar senior Charles-Anthony Woodfork in a discussion with James Ham, director of the Office of International Affairs at North Carolina Central University.
This year's theme for IEW is "explore". NCAT Extraordinary Opportunities (NCAT EO)—a unit in the Honors College that serves all Aggie students and alums—and the Office of International Affairs are offering several events for exploration of global opportunities. These workshops, webinars, and a lecture will bring awareness to the availability of and the institutional, professional, and personal value of international programs.
For The Culture is a part of NCAT EO’s third Extraordinary Global Experiences (EGE) series. Other events from this series are:
Tuesday, Nov. 19:
- Boren Awards outreach session from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Deese Ballroom
- NCAT EO writing session from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Deese Ballroom
- Fulbright Program grant session webinar from 5 to 6:15 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 20:
- Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT) Fellowship webinar from 1 to 1:30 p.m.

The Office of International Affairs (OIA) at A&T is also hosting the following campus-wide events to celebrate IEW:
Monday, Nov. 18:
- IEW Kick Off Ceremony from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm in Frye Hall
- Best Practices for Supporting International Students presentation from 1-2:15 pm in Frye Hall, room 308
- From Vision to Reality: Crafting Successful Faculty-Led Study Abroad Experiences presentation from 3-4:15 pm in Frye Hall, room 101
Tuesday, Nov. 19:
- HBCU Voices Abroad discussion panel from 4 to 5:30 pm in Gibbs Hall, Room 242
Wednesday, Nov. 20:
- Study Abroad Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Deese Ballroom at the Student Center
