EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Nov. 22, 2023) – The Graduate College at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University has announced the winners of its Fall 2023 Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition.
The 3MT Competition asks graduate students to present their master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation research to a general audience in just three minutes and with only one PowerPoint slide. This competition is one of The Graduate College’s professional development initiatives.
Nine finalists competed for first-, second- and third-place awards before an audience of students, faculty, administrators and invited guests at Proctor Hall. The winners are:
The finalists were determined after a preliminary round held a week earlier among 34 registered student contestants. They include:
“The 3MT competition was a huge success and we received positive feedback from the students, their guests, and fellow faculty and staff who were present,” said Re’Shanda Grace-Bridges, Ph.D., assistant dean of Student Affairs for The Graduate College. “As a member of the academic community and the Aggie family, I could not be more proud of our students and their efforts to expand existing knowledge in their respective fields.”
Graduate students who participate in the 3MT competition work on critical communication skills that will serve them beyond their degree. They also have the opportunity to win prize money, up to $500.
This year’s winners and their advisors will be honored at a graduate student awards luncheon in spring 2024.
Price-Webb will represent N.C. A&T at the regional 3MT competition during the spring meeting of the Conference of Southern Graduate School, March 13-15, 2024.
