North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University recognized SHRA and EHRA non-faculty employees June 9 during its 2022 Employee Recognition Award Ceremony, where 41 employees nominated for excellence in the categories of Aggie Pride, customer service, leadership, performance and teamwork were honored.
Coming off of a pandemic that went on to claim more than a million lives in the Unites States alone, the university’s success in the most recent academic year following return to campus in Fall 2021 has been truly remarkable, Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr. said during the event.
“Our resilient staff persevered and continued to be dedicated in service to our university and our community as a whole,” he said.
The five employees who received excellence awards with a plaque and $1,000 were:
- Aggie Pride – Dominique Clemmons-James, counselor, Counseling Services
- Customer Service – Katherine Wilkerson, executive assistant, College of Science and Technology
- Leadership – Tonjia May, director of sponsored programs, Research and Economic Development
- Performance – Donna Robertson, grant administrator, College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences
- Teamwork – Regina Linney, executive assistant, James R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences
“Everyone who works at this university – from students and faculty to administrators and staff – does so upon the foundation of our core values: responsibility, excellence, integrity, inclusiveness and learning,” said Martin. “The fact is, we cannot achieve our mission as a public land-grant university and the nation’s largest and best HCBU without the approximately 2,300 people who work here in a permanent or temporary capacity.”
