A&T Launches NCAT Park App for Effortless Campus Parking

By Jamal Featherstone / 09/30/2024

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Sept. 30, 2024) – North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University announces the launch of the NCAT Park app, powered by ParkZen. Designed exclusively for the North Carolina A&T community, the app brings a new level of convenience and innovation to the campus parking experience.

In N.C. A&T listening sessions this fall held by Chancellor James Martin, students, faculty, staff and alumni have all raised concerns about parking on campus. The new app is one of several actions A&T is taking with those concerns in mind. Others include a new parking deck included in Campus Master Plan Phase I development set for 2023-2030, and another set for Phase II, 2030-2038.

NCAT Park features include:

  • Find Parking Fast: Easily locate available parking across campus, eliminating the hassle of searching for a spot.
  • Remember Where You Parked: Never forget where you left your car — the app will track it for you.
  • Parking Announcements: Stay informed with real-time parking updates to plan your commute efficiently.
  • Parking Feedback: Share your thoughts and experiences to help A&T Parking & Transportation Services improve campus parking.

The NCAT Park app is a crowd-sourcing tool tailored specifically for Aggies. It allows users to locate available parking spots near their destinations, send reminders about where their vehicle is parked and submit feedback to enhance parking services.

The app’s effectiveness improves with more users. By gathering real-time data from the community, NCAT Park can generate accurate reports to assist in finding available spots. The system needs user data to provide reliable parking insights, so the university encourages all students, faculty and staff to download the app and contribute information.

Once the app is downloaded and installed, users are prompted to select either “Always Allow Location” or “Allow While Using App” to enable continuous parking data processing.

The NCAT Park app (ParkZen) does not track users’ location history, identity or other personal data. All data is processed locally on mobile devices and is not shared with ParkZen. The app collects only anonymized parking location data to help monitor parking availability on campus. Parking data is securely stored using Google Cloud services to ensuring the highest levels of security.

Aggies can download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
