N.C. A&T Alumnus Jeter Selected for Prestigious Payne Graduate Fellowship

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 30, 2024) – Kimberly Tyson, director of the Office of International Affairs at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, has received the prestigious Fulbright International Education Administrators award for the 2024-25 academic year, affirming her exceptional leadership and contributions to global connectivity in higher education.
The Fulbright International Education Administrators award, renowned for its commitment to fostering mutual understanding between nations, is a testament to Tyson’s dedication to advancing international collaboration. Tyson’s Fulbright will support a project in France where she will work to strengthen international partnerships across educational, political, cultural, economic and scientific domains.
Tyson joined North Carolina A&T in 2023 with more than 17 years of experience in international and domestic admissions and recruitment, student services, education exchange, federal grant administration, project management and partnership building. Previously, she served as senior international officer at the University of Glasgow in Scotland where she was responsible for recruitment of U.S. high school, transfer and postgraduate students, as well as study abroad.
In her current role, Tyson oversees the university’s commitment to preparing students to excel in the world by learning to be global citizens and proactive contributors to the search for justice and equality. Her responsibilities include leading support for international students, exchange students and exchange visitors, current students aspiring to study abroad and developing exchange partnerships with international institutions along with faculty, as well as staff and graduate student international travel.
Tyson earned a dual B.A. in from Clark Atlanta University and an M.A. in international relations from Webster University. She . She is a member of Association of International Regional Representative and designated presenter for the Fulbright Scholar UK Commission.
The Fulbright Program, the world’s largest and most diverse international educational exchange initiative, boasts a scholarship board comprising Nobel Laureates, Pulitzer Prize winners, MacArthur Fellows and other leading scholars.
Tyson’s selection in the Fulbright Program not only amplifies her standing as a leader in international education but also highlights A&T’s dedication to global engagement and cultural exchange.
Through her forthcoming work in France, she is poised to make a lasting impact on the international educational landscape, furthering the Fulbright Program’s overarching goal of cultivating mutual understanding and cooperation on a global scale.
