
N.C. A&T, UNCG and Guilford College to Host Joint Juneteenth Celebration

Greensboro, N.C. (June 16, 2022) – North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, UNC Greensboro (UNCG) and Guilford College are teaming up to present a Juneteenth Celebration with events on Friday, June 17, at 2 p.m., via Zoom and in person and Monday, June 20, at 9:30 a.m., at the Weatherspoon Art Museum on the campus of UNCG.
The celebration recognizes the significance of Juneteenth and amplifies its 157-year history. Events include the following:
- “A Sober Conversation About Juneteenth,” Friday, June 17, 2 p.m. Nakia Hoskins and Brian Robinson, both of UNCG, will facilitate an honest discussion of the realities of what liberation means for descendants of enslaved Africans in the United States.
- Arts and Fellowship Celebration: Monday, June 20, 9:30 a.m., at the Weatherspoon Art Museum. This event will feature speakers from all three institutions including a spoken word selection by N.C. A&T junior, mechanical engineering student and artist, Akeem Blalock-Cotton as well as the poetry of Josephus Thompson and performances by the A&T Jazz Ensemble and the UNCG Jazz Quartet. Portions of Monday’s in-person event will also be livestreamed.
