Chief of Staff Hart Selected for TBJ’s Outstanding Women in Business Class of 2024

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Nov. 5, 2021) – North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University alumna Nedra Jones ‘95 has been named chief financial officer for the CDC Foundation.
Established by Congress as an independent, nonprofit, the CDC Foundation is the sole entity authorized by Congress to mobilize philanthropic partners and private-sector resources to support the mission of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Jones will partner with the foundation’s senior leaders and team to manage and optimize growing and diverse revenue streams, ensure fiscal efficacy, accuracy and reporting, and enhance systems and processes across the foundation. She will lead the foundation’s financial talent, systems and operations, developing processes and structures that integrate and accelerate functions to sync and adapt with the broader organization.
“The CDC Foundation has expanded our public health protection work across the nation and globe during the last several years,” said Judy Monroe, M.D., CDC Foundation president and CEO. “We are excited to have Nedra join us as we continue to increase our impact in support of the CDC’s and our public health partners’ lifesaving work.”
Jones, who was selected after a nationwide recruitment effort conducted by Boardwalk Consulting, comes to the CDC Foundation with significant financial executive experience, most recently with the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta. She joined the YMCA in 2010 as controller and held the position of vice president of finance and risk before being promoted to CFO in 2019.
She began her career at the Atlanta office of Deloitte where she became a senior auditor. Her previous roles included various accounting and finance leadership positions for Fortune 500 companies and large nonprofits including First Data, AT&T, Black Entertainment Television and Clark Atlanta University.
Jones is a member of the advisory council for DeKalb Brilliance Academy (DBA) and previously served on the advisory board of the Cam Newton Foundation and the board of directors of It’s the Journey, Inc.—the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer. She is also a founding board member of DBA and is a 2013 graduate of Leadership DeKalb.
A summa cum laude graduate of North Carolina A&T with a B.S. in accounting, Jones is finishing a Master of Studies in Law at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.
