GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 22, 2020) – Graduating students of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University couldn’t participate in an in-person ceremony this spring, but university leaders will still honor them with an unforgettable send-off this Saturday, May 23, in the form of a Virtual Graduation Celebration starting online at noon.
The video will be posted on YouTube and Facebook. Viewers may access the show via the university’s Spring 2020 Graduation website or on either of those platforms, links to which will also be posted on the graduation site.
In addition to congratulations messages from Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr., Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor Beryl McEwen and numerous prominent alumni, the video features a star-studded parade of messages from celebrity entertainers, political figures and star athletes.
But the real stars of the show are the graduating students, more than 450 of whom submitted videos and photos for inclusion in the presentation. The result is a yearbook brought to vivid life, with personal stories, great music and a deep vein of Aggie Pride tying the whole package together.
Graduating students, parents, family members, friends, continuing students, prospective students, alumni and fans of A&T are invited to join in the fun this Saturday. Details are being arranged for an in-person commencement for the spring class later this year.
This is the third consecutive weekend that the spring graduates have been celebrated. Two weeks ago, Greensboro businesses and organizations lit up the city blue and gold to honor the graduates of A&T and UNCG. Last weekend, the "#ShowMeYourWalk – HBCU Edition" streamed nationally with participation by celebrities such as President Barack Obama, comedian/actor Kevin Hart, entertainer Common, actress/choreographer Debbie Allen, U.S. Sen. Tim Scott and many others. As part of that celebration, President Obama shared special words honoring N.C. A&T.
Videos of each of those celebrations are featured on the HBCU Spring Graduation site, including the president's A&T message.
