EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 1, 2024) – North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University faculty member Antwon Foreman ‘13 has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Technology Transition (OTT) EnergyTech Up 2024 Faculty Award.
EnergyTech Up is a collegiate competition designed to promote clean energy entrepreneurship among both students and faculty. As part of this competition, participating faculty members are tasked with developing and implementing innovative education initiatives to inspire and engage students.
Foreman is a management lecturer in the Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics. While a student at N.C. A&T, he founded a consulting business that has provided invaluable support to more than 2,000 entrepreneurs, organizations and government agencies across seven countries.
Foreman is one of 10 faculty members from across the country who received the OTT EnergyTech Up award this year for demonstrating a talent for engaging students in commercialization and technology transfer programs.
“It is an honor to receive this award because it validates that our programming is on the right path to align our students with more opportunities,” said Foreman. “I look forward to further expanding said programming so we can place our students in positions their ancestors have only dreamed of.”
In his work at A&T, Foreman also serves as the director of the Blackstone Entrepreneurship Launchpad. This center is dedicated to producing entrepreneurial mindsets and skill sets regardless of students’ majors or career paths.
In this academic year alone, Foreman has successfully engaged nearly 10% of the campus community representing more than 30 majors. Under his leadership to date, the launchpad has supervised the establishment of 27 profitable student-run businesses.
Foreman has mentored nearly 400 students and engaged with more than 1,100 students through various programs this academic year. His initiatives include technical training, mindset master classes and career development workshops, benefiting hundreds of students.
Additionally, Foreman has supported 47 students in research projects and experiential learning, collaborating with entities such as the Department of Defense and DOE.
