EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Sept. 12, 2023) – Episodes 2 and 3 of the “Our Blues Make Us Gold” docuseries about North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University are set for screening at the Gateway Research Park South Campus this Friday, Sept. 15 and next Friday, Sept. 22, respectively.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m. for both dates with a social hour, including hors d’oeuvres and desserts, taking place before the films. The films will each begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be screened in the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering Auditorium at 2907 E. Gate City Blvd., Greensboro. The screenings are free and open to the public and attendees can RSVP here.
Friday night’s episode focuses on the big impact that A&T’s Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics has had in educating entrepreneurs and prominent business leaders in North Carolina and around the nation. The final episode on Sept. 22 revolves around Aggie impact in the sports and entertainment fields.
Episode 1 of “Our Blues Make Us Gold” screened last Friday to a sizable audience, many of whom stayed for a spirited Q&A with the filmmakers, Ashley Shantè and Brandon Gerard, the principals of From A2B Studios.
Their work on the docuseries began in 2019. Despite the major interruption in production caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Gerard and Shantè kept the project moving forward. They also took part in two campus screenings of the work-in-progress along the way. The September screenings mark the first time that each finished episode has been shown publicly.
From A2B Studios secured a $100,000 completion grant earlier this year from the Black Experience on Xfinity. The Black Experience will review each of the 10 projects it selected in that grant competition and program the top choices on their Xfinity channel.
A&T fans in Maryland will also be able to catch the series on Maryland PBS in 2024, which is screening the project as part of its HBCU Week.
