Winter Wishes in Aggieland Provided 200 Gifts for Guilford County Foster Children
EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Dec. 3, 2019) – For the third consecutive year, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University hosted Winter Wishes in Aggieland, Dec. 2, 2019, providing 200 Guilford County Foster children with three special gift wishes for the holiday season. The gifts were delivered the following day.During the event, N.C. A&T faculty, staff and students gathered at the Deese Clock Tower to fill shuttles and trucks with bikes, sports equipment and toys for children, including two children, who Chancellor and Mrs. Harold L. and Davida Martin Sr. sponsored this year.
“I’m reminded that these exceptional young people would not be able to enjoy the holidays so fulfilling without our help,” said Martin. “It’s important that we reflect on opportunities when we have the potential to help change and encourage the excitement and enthusiasm of children in our community.”
Attendees of the event, were kept warm with hot chocolate and desserts as well as holiday tunes from the Blue and Gold Marching Machine and The N.C. A&T Fellowship Gospel Choir.
County officials spoke of the importance of partnership and how children have been impacted over the years, many noting the gifts they have received were, in some cases, the first time they received items on their wish lists.
