EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Jan. 10, 2025) — An exceptionally experienced higher education fundraising professional with service in the University of California System, at Morehouse College and other leading institutions will be the new vice chancellor for University Advancement at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, officials announced today.
Monique Michelle Dozier, vice chancellor for Advancement at the University of California-Riverside and president of the UCR Foundation, will begin work in her new role in March. At North Carolina A&T, she will lead a division that includes Development, the North Carolina A&T Foundation and Alumni Relations. In 2020, the division completed the largest capital campaign of any public historically Black college or university (HBCU), an effort that brought in $181.4 million.
Dozier has worked successfully for public and private campuses, AAU institutions, Research 1 universities and a renowned historically Black college, lending a breadth to her career matched by few in higher education. Her service at those campuses has been lauded by colleagues as visionary, innovative and results-oriented.
“Monique’s outstanding technical knowledge, penchant for strategic planning and great instincts for relationship building have driven a sterling record of accomplishment – a record that spans two AAU and R1 universities and a leading HBCU, an uncommon combination in higher education,” said A&T Chancellor James R. Martin II. “She is a perfect match for the ambitions of our university and the singular set of attributes that make our exponential university such an exciting investment opportunity for donors. I look forward to her leadership as we set new goals and reach new milestones in the coming months and years.”
Dozier has served UC Riverside in her current role since mid-2022. Before then, she was vice president and chief advancement officer at Morehouse, the nation’s only all-male HBCU, from 2018 to 2022.
She served as director of development and external relations, director of advancement information systems and finally assistant vice president for advancement information systems and donor strategy for Michigan State University for more than 13 years, 2005 to 2018. And for the five years prior, she held multiple positions at DePaul University, concluding her tenure as senior director of annual and special giving.
In addition to Dozier’s work at UC Riverside, she serves on the Microsoft Surface Customer Advisory Board and from 2021 to 2023 the Council for Advancement and Support of Education Board of Trustees. In recent years, she has held board roles for Salesforce, AMAtlas, IBM and Ellucian.
She also has been honored as an Aspen Leadership Institute Fellow and an IBM Analytics Champion. Dozier is a graduate of Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana, where she earned a B.S. in computer information systems management. She succeeds Kenneth E. Sigmon Jr., who retired at the end of 2024 after a 10-year tenure at A&T
