Request for Travel Funding

Presenting your research or creative work at a conference or symposium is an exciting opportunity to share your findings, build professional connections, and strengthen your academic portfolio.The Center for Undergraduate Research (CUGR)is committed to helping North Carolina A&T undergraduate students access these opportunities by providing travel funding support. These awards are designed to offset some of the expenses associated with attending professional meetings.While CUGR funding may not cover all costs, it can help make participation more affordable. Students are encouraged to seek additional funding through their academic departments, mentors, or external grants to supplement their award.

Eligibility CriteriaTo qualify for CUGR travel funding, applicants must meet the following criteria: 

  • Be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at North Carolina A&T State University at the time of travel. 
  • Have conducted research or creative work under the guidance of a faculty or approved research mentor (e.g., A&T faculty mentor, external university or lab mentor). 
  • Be accepted to present their research or creative work at a professional conference or symposium (a copy of the acceptance email or letter is required). 
  • Open to students from all majors and classifications. 
  • Students may receive one travel award per academic year. 
  • Applications must be submitted at least one month prior to the date of travel. 
  • Award recipients must complete a post-conference survey, short interview about their experience, and share their poster or presentation for archival purposes.
 

Funding Request Allowable ExpensesStudents may receive up to $1,500 in travel support. Funds may be used to cover: 

  • Transportation (airfare, mileage, etc.) 
  • Conference registration fees 
  • Lodging (hotel accommodations) 
  • Meals and food expenses related to conference attendance 

Awards are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are contingent on availability of funds and completeness of the application. 

Application Process:  Students are encouraged to apply as soon as they receive confirmation that their presentation has been accepted. Late or incomplete applications may result in delayed or denied funding. We will notify you within one week of submitting your application. LINK to Application
