College of Education

Welcome to the College of Education!

Graduates of the North Carolina A&T College of Education become transformative teachers, counselors, administrators and leaders who change lives every day and play key roles in improving educational institutions and society.

The College of Education is committed to culturally responsive and sustaining practices and is unapologetically focused on advancing equity for greater justice in all that we do. Building on our historically Black university (HBCU) legacy of exemplary teaching, scholarship and effective public service, the College of Education offers degrees at the baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral levels. Our mission is to prepare highly skilled, culturally responsive and sustainable educators, leaders, and counselors who create, use, and share knowledge on equity, access, and advocacy in local, state, national, and global communities. Our graduates are catalysts for transformative action to improve education and counseling in diverse contexts and communities.

We are learner-focused, and our award-winning faculty are committed to preparing you for a career defined by excellence. Our faculty have been recognized with numerous University and UNC System Awards of Excellence for their teaching, research, and community engagement.

The College consists of three academic departments offering undergraduate and graduate degrees:

Department of Educator Preparation

Department of Counseling

Department of Leadership Studies, Adult Education

Former NBA player J.R. Smith is on a mission to not only better himself, but those around him. In this episode of HBCU Rising, Smith sits with North Carolina A&T Dean and Professor of the College of Education Dr. Paula Groves Price, to discuss the importance of pouring into the next generation of students. With the help of Toyota, he also donates $5K to provide equipment to the STEAM lab at Aggie Academy for students to have the resources they need.
