Testing for Coronavirus

On Campus Testing

On campus testing for faculty, staff and students is available Monday through Friday on campus during normal business hours at the Student Health Center. Please call ahead for an appointment if you are having symptoms, 336-334-7880, or notify the staff at the front entrance.

Management of Positive Results

Those who test positive will need to be isolated for at least 5 days, and will have to refrain from all on campus activities.

Management of Contacts at Risk of Transmission

Those who are discovered to be at risk of catching the virus due to a risky direct contact with a positive case will need to be quarantined for 10 days according to CDC guidelines COVID-19 Quarantine and Isolation | CDC and will also have to refrain from all on campus activities. Anyone exposed to the virus should be tested as soon as can be arranged. Exposed persons who have been vaccinated and boosted do not need to test unless they have close personal contact with the positive person or if they have symptoms of coronavirus.

Students

Students living in on-campus housing will be required to move to special housing reserved for those positive for coronavirus to minimize spread of the virus in residence halls. During the isolation period, such students will not be allowed to attend in-person classes or go to A&T dining facilities. Meals and other necessities will be brought to quarantined/isolated students.

Students who live off campus will be required to quarantine/isolate at their residence. During this period, they are required to remain off campus. If the student is ill or continues to manifest coronavirus symptoms, a further period of isolation and additional medical treatment may be required. Students may receive additional direction for treatment and further isolation from the Student Health Center staff.
