Undergraduate Programs

  • Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering
Architectural engineers are the engineers that specialize in the design, construction, and maintenance of buildings. They are trained to develop designs for structural systems, heating and air conditioning systems, lighting and electrical systems, and plumbing and fire protection systems. Architectural Engineers work with other engineers and architects to design and construct buildings and the systems within buildings. N.C. A&T’s Architectural Engineering Program has a long and rich history that can trace its origins back to the beginning of the University in 1891. Based on historical records, the first degrees were awarded in 1921 and it was established as a department in 1941. The program was accredited in the 1969 by the Engineering Council for Professional Development (ECPD) which is now referred to as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Our program has consistently maintained ABET accreditation and completed the last ABET general review in October 2019.

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
Civil engineers are the engineers that specialize in the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of public infrastructures such as buildings, dams, bridges, harbors, power facilities, pollution control, facilities, water supply, and transportation systems. They are trained in the key areas addressing both the physical and naturally built environment such as structural systems, geotechnical, transportation, environmental and water resources, and construction. Civil Engineers work with other engineers to typically work in areas that serve the public sector. N.C. A&T’s Civil Engineering Program was established in 1985. The first graduates completed their degrees in 1990. The program was first accredited in 1990 by Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Our program has consistently maintained ABET accreditation and completed the last ABET general review in 2019.
