Pharmacy Services
The Alvin V. Blount Jr. Student Health Center's Pharmacy is a full-service, on-site pharmacy. We offer prescription as well as over-the-counter medications to all students, faculty, and staff. We accept most prescription insurance plans. Our staff provides confidential medication counseling and education on the importance of proper drug use.

Services
- We accept prescriptions from outside providers and our Student Health Center providers
- Confidential Pharmacist counseling
- Screening for medication allergies and drug interactions
- Call-in, Mobile Rx App, or Walk- ins for medication refills
- Contraceptive therapy including emergency contraception (Plan B)
- A wide range of nonprescription, over the counter medications
Prescription Refills
Prescriptions can be refilled via our Pharmacy App called Mobile Rx or click the link provided above (SHC Pharmacy Express Refills). You may also call with your name, Banner ID number, telephone number, the name of the medication, or prescription number. You may also stop by the pharmacy in person during our business hours.
Prescription Transfers
We can transfer your prescription from your outside pharmacy to the SHC pharmacy. Please provide the name of your medication and the name and phone number of the pharmacy where your prescription was last filled. You can submit this information in person or call (336) 285-2905. Please allow 48 hours to transfer your prescription.
Prescription Insurance
We accept most third-party insurance plans.

Over-The-Counter Medications and Sundries
Many medications, health, and hygiene products that do not require a prescription are stocked by the Alvin V. Blount Jr. Student Health Center Pharmacy. Insurance will not cover these over-the-counter merchandises. We accept cash, check, credit or debit cards, and Aggie One Card. Prices are marked and N.C. sales tax will be applied.
Precription Card Differences
Medical Prescription Card
- Purpose: Covers the cost of prescription medications.
- Provider: Typically issued by a Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM) associated with your health insurance plan.
- Information: Contains information about your prescription coverage, including the plan's name, member ID number, and group number.
- Use: Presented at the pharmacy to obtain prescription medications and have the cost processed through your insurance plan.
Medical Insurance Card
- Purpose: Covers a broader range of medical services, including doctor visits, hospital stays, surgeries, and other healthcare expenses.
- Provider: Issued by your health insurance company.
- Information: Contains information about your health insurance plan, including the plan's name, group number, and member ID number.
- Use: Presented to healthcare providers (doctors, hospitals, etc.) to receive medical services and have the costs processed through your insurance plan.
Key Differences
- Scope of Coverage: Prescription cards specifically cover prescription medications, while insurance cards cover a broader range of medical services.
- Issuer: Prescription cards are often issued by PBMs, while insurance cards are issued by health insurance companies.
- Use: Prescription cards are used at pharmacies, while insurance cards are used at various healthcare providers.
Important Note: In some cases, your health insurance card may include both medical and prescription coverage. However, it's always best to check with your insurance provider to confirm which card to use for specific services.
Payment
You must pay for your prescription at the time of service. Charges over $5.00 may be placed on your NC A&T student account.
