The A&T Register Student Newspaper
The A&T Register is the student newspaper for the campus of North Carolina A&T State University. The A&T Register was first published in 1894 as The Register. The paper began continuous publication in 1915. Students from the journalism department lead the editorial staff and students from all majors are invited to participate.
The newspaper’s mission is to:
- Provide forums for student writing, editing, photography, business management and other related functions
- Provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and opinions
- Inform the university community and provide a record of life at the university
- Provide students with training in journalistic and media-management skills
The editorial freedom of student editors entails corollary responsibilities to be governed by the canons of responsible journalism, such as the avoidance of libel, indecency, undocumented allegations, attacks on personal integrity and the techniques of harassment and innuendo.
The newspaper maintains membership in the following professional groups: Associated Collegiate Press, College Media Association and North Carolina College Media Association.
The Register Contributors meetings are held every Monday at 5 p.m. The A&T Register is located on the 3rd Level of the General Classroom Building in room A328G.
