Freshmen

Starting college is one of the most exciting transitions you’ll experience—new opportunities, new connections, and a new community waiting to support you. At North Carolina A&T State University, we are committed to providing a high-quality New Student Orientation (NSO) experience that prepares you for academic success and life as an Aggie.

NSO: Your First Step Into Aggieland

All first-time freshmen are required to attend New Student Orientation. NSO is designed to help you:

  • Meet other new students and start building your community

  • Learn about important academic expectations and campus resources

  • Connect with student leaders, faculty, and staff

  • Prepare for your transition into your first semester at A&T

Once you confirm your enrollment, you’ll receive details about selecting your NSO session, completing pre-orientation steps, and preparing for your arrival.

Your NSO Digital Hub: Raftr

To make your transition even smoother, all incoming students are added to our Raftr: New Student Orientation Page, an interactive platform created specifically for first-time students attending NSO.

On Raftr, you can:

  • Access important information about NSO, Welcome Week, and campus resources

  • Stay updated on schedules, reminders, and announcements

  • Connect with peers from your class

  • Engage with our Aggie Success Leaders (ASLs) who are ready to answer questions and support you

  • Explore tips, checklists, and student-to-student advice

Raftr is a great resource to explore leading up to your orientation—it will help you feel more confident, connected, and prepared before stepping on campus.

Be Prepared for NSO

Success at NSO begins with preparation. Make sure to:

  • Review your NSO schedule and required steps

  • Complete any pre-orientation modules

  • Bring necessary documents and materials

  • Check your A&T email regularly for updates
