At North Carolina A&T, Threat Assessment and Management categorizes, and addresses, concerning behavior across two-tiers. Tier Two, or Behavioral Intervention, focuses on situations where an individual may pose a potential threat of harm to themselves or others. This includes the potential threat of harm to the University community, property, or reputation. Unlike Aggie CARE, this tier prioritizes escalated behaviors of concern exhibited by employees, students, and non-affiliated individuals.
This level includes the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), which is commonly known as a Threat Assessment and Management Team. This multidisciplinary team is responsible for the careful and contextual identification and evaluation of behaviors that raise concern and that may precede violent activity on campus.BIT’s mission is to assess and reduce risks by providing timely interventions and creating tailored support plans. Through collaboration with both campus departments and external agencies, our team works proactively to prevent harm and ensure a safe, supportive environment for all. In support of BIT, Threat Assessment and Management staff collaborates across departments and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to maintaining a safe, supportive, and thriving environment for all members of the university community.
