The Alvin V.  Blount Jr. Student Health center strives to provide the necessary services to meet the ambulatory health needs of our student population. We have a full-service lab providing in-house testing for hematology, urinalysis, microbiology and serology. Lab testing can also be provided for students who have a written requisition for specific tests from their personal physician. Lab tests not performed by the Alvin V. Blount Jr. Student Health center are sent to a reference lab and results are returned electronically to Student Health Services. 

Accreditation

Our laboratory is accredited by AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care) and COLA (Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation). These accreditations mean that we hold the highest standards and we value the quality of service we provide. 

Laboratory Results

Many of the routine tests that are performed in-house are resulted during the visit. Results taking longer can be relayed to you via a secure messaging system.

Laboratory Cost

Services are generally covered by insurance plans. You may call your insurance company with questions regarding coverage for lab charges. Any charges not covered by health insurance, including deductibles and co-insurance, will be the patient’s responsibility.

X-Ray 

 Comprehensive x-ray services are offered at the Alvin V. Blount Jr. Student Health Center. We accept orders from internal and outside physicians (upon physician request only). Fees do apply to all x-ray services and will be billed to your insurance.
