The Meditation & Reflection Room

The Office Intercultural Engagement (OIE) offers a space for meditation and reflection for the entire NC A&T State University community who need personal time to pray, meditate, and reflect. The Meditation & Reflection room is on the 3rd floor in the Student Center, room 309. The space is available Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. The room is not available for use on Saturdays, Sundays, and when the university is closed.

Meditation & Reflection Room Guidelines:

  • Use of the space is on a first-come basis. Please be respectful of others desiring to use the space and refrain from extended stay.
  • Please be respectful of others desiring to use the space and refrain from extended stay.
  • Time limit is 30 minutes maximum.
  • Different students can use this space at the same time. We ask that you be sensitive to the concerns/needs of others also using this space.
  • Use of the space is only for quiet meditation, contemplation, prayer, or silent reflection and religious/spiritual observances. Please do not use this room as a lounge, study room, or organized group gatherings or meetings. The room is not to be used for napping, sleeping, or completing school or personal work.
  • This is a quiet space. Cell phones should be on silent.
  • Silence and mutual respect are expected at all times; music is to be listened to through earphones or earplugs with all musical devices (e.g., iPods, MP3 players, etc.)
  • Food and beverages are discouraged.
  • Candles, burning oils, incense, or any other flammable items are not permitted.
  • Please do not remove or bring anything into this room.
  • The posting of signs, displays, or other materials outside or inside of the room is strictly prohibited.
  • Please leave the room in the same condition as it was prior to use.
  • Failure to comply with Meditation Room guidelines or repeated misuse of the space may result in disciplinary actions and limited or restricted use of this space.
  • Failure to comply with the guidelines is a violation of the University Student Code of Conduct.
  • If you observe any person or activity in the Meditation Room that is inappropriate to the purpose of the space, you are strongly encouraged to contact the Office of Intercultural Engagement, Student Center, Suite 367, or call 336-334-7800 and report the activity.
  • If the person or activity observed poses an immediate threat or danger to others or the facility, find safety and call NCAT University Police at 336-334-7128
