What is the First Destination Survey?

The First Destination Survey collects information about what NC A&T graduates are doing within six months of graduation — whether that is working full-time, attending graduate school, serving in the military, or pursuing other paths.

This data is used to demonstrate the value of an A&T degree, attract top employers, improve career programs, and help current students understand the career outcomes of their peers.

Why It Matters

✓ Strengthens A&T’s national rankings
✓ Attracts more employer partners
✓ Informs academic program improvements
✓ Helps future Aggies see what’s possible

How long do I have access to Career Services after graduation?

NC A&T alumni have full access to Career Services resources — including Handshake, career advising, resume reviews, and mock interviews — for up to two years after your graduation date. All alumni can attend career fairs regardless of when they graduated.

Can I still use Handshake after I graduate?

Yes, but you may need to reactivate your account. If you graduated in May 2020 or later, email ocs@ncat.edu with the subject line “Alumni Handshake Reactivation Request” and include a non-NC A&T email address (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) in the body. Do not create a new account. If you graduated before May 2020, you will need to create a new alumni account at ncat.joinhandshake.com using a non-NC A&T email.

Can I attend career fairs as an alumnus?

Yes. All NC A&T alumni are welcome at our career fairs and recruiting events, regardless of when you graduated. Register through Handshake or contact ocs@ncat.edu for details.

What if I graduated more than two years ago?

Alumni beyond the two-year window are still welcome to attend all NC A&T career fairs and recruiting events. You can also reach out to us for general career guidance. For ongoing one-on-one advising support, we recommend exploring professional career coaching services or your employer’s career development programs.

How do I schedule an appointment as an alumnus?

Log in to Handshake, navigate to Career Center → Appointments, and select an available time. You can also email us directly at ocs@ncat.edu or call (336) 334-7755.

How can I give back to current Aggie students?

Volunteer as a mentor, connect your company’s recruiting team with our office, speak on career panels, or refer open positions to be posted on Handshake. Email ocs@ncat.edu to get involved.
