Department of Computer Systems Technology
The Department of Computer Systems Technology (CST) offers degree programs in Electronics technology and Information technology.
Within CST, students can select a concentration in one of the following areas: Storage Technology, Wireless Systems, Mainframe Computing, High Performance Computing, Computer Engineering Technology, Information Management, Enterprise Computing, Security, and Networking.
After graduation, our students are prepared to manage projects and/or people in the corporate sector, software companies, telecommunications, broadcast and Internet companies. Companies that hire our graduates include: AT&T, Ford Motor Company, IBM, Northrop Grumman, Rockwell Collins, just to name a few.
CST prepares students to pursue technical, as well as technical management careers in all employment sectors. The program emphasizes acquisition of sound theoretical studies, as well as intensive hands-on experiences in the area of electronics technology. CST emphasizes development of real world competencies demanded by employers. Students receive thorough grounding in electronics; digital and microprocessor systems; computer technologies, including hardware, software and computer networking; communication systems; power distribution; and automation and control systems.
Additional emphasis is placed on courses in business management, statistical process control, humanities, computer programming, safety and project management, and manufacturing processes to provide students the background they need in the economic and managerial aspects of the business enterprise.
