Graduate Programs

The John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences is proud to offer two graduate degree programs in the dynamic and growing fields of social work and sociology: The Master of Science in Social Work (MSW) and the Ph.D. in Social Work.

Social Work directional signGraduate studies prepare professional social workers for effective multicultural, clinical practice. For collaboration with consumers and colleagues in the development of practices that promote social and economic justice and benefit the citizens of North Carolina. And for research and community-engaged scholarship. These programs immerse our students in a rich tradition of multiculturalism, social justice and community-engaged scholarship.

Offered in partnership with the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, these programs leverage the best resources of both institutions. As a result, the MSW and Ph.D. degrees enjoy strong profiles in the environments where our graduates work.
