New International Student Orientation
The Office of International Affairs (OIA) provides new international student orientation in both the fall and spring semesters of each academic year. The sessions are set before classes begin so that new students will feel more comfortable moving about the campus and gaining access to the information they need to begin their program of study and live in their new academic and social communities.
The orientation session is mandatory for new international students in F and J status because critical information regarding academic standing requirements, immigration regulations and requirements, U.S. tax regulations/treaties, health insurance instructions, and OIA programs and services are discussed. Further, students who have not yet checked into OIA can schedule an appointment to complete the mandatory check-in process.
New students will also be informed of existing and updated information regarding eligibility to receive work authorization for on-campus employment and social security number approval.
Upcoming Orientation
Fall 2021 New International Student Orientation is being offered virtually. We are working directly with several university offices to ensure we are providing a beneficial orientation program while keeping the health and safety of our students and staff in mind. Orientation is mandatory, those who do not participate will have a hold placed on their account.
