Our Commitment to Faculty

Good teaching is vitally important in any society. It’s even more significant in sites in which a great proportion of the students come from historically underrepresented groups. Then, the teacher needs to not only understand students’ histories but must teach students, not just their discipline. The CTE at NC A&T seeks to support faculty to actively build relationships with students and acknowledge their responsibilities to move beyond the discipline to celebrate the rich heritage and backgrounds of our students.

Our students are the center of the teaching/learning process. We help faculty to develop and strengthen their teaching skills through a plethora of programs and services. From the development of learning goals, high quality assessments and active instructional practices based on the science of teaching and learning, we support faculty to gain a deep understanding of the theories and principles that guide impactful and relevant teaching.

We help faculty identify their strengths as teachers and work with them to devise approaches and tools for course improvement and teaching innovation.
