Bio

Dr. Kizito is a full professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at North Carolina A&T State University, currently serving as Interim Chair. He has established a distinguished career in teaching and research, with a strong track record of leading and conducting innovative research in the Design and Performance of Mechanical and Aerospace Systems, with a specialized focus on transport phenomena at multiple scales. Dr. Kizito has earned numerous accolades for his contributions to engineering. He is a NASA Space Principal Investigator, a NASA Faculty Fellow, and a four-time recipient of NASA Team Achievement Awards. He also served as a panel member for the National Research Council’s Committee on the Translation to Space Exploration Systems Panel, under the Space Studies Board of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.

Research Interests

Nonlinear Dynamics: Understanding how small changes in inputs can lead to significant and often unexpected outcomes. Systems Integration: Designing and managing the interaction between mechanical, electrical, and fluid subsystems. Control Systems: Developing strategies to regulate and stabilize dynamic systems under varying conditions. Multi-Scale Modeling: Analyzing systems that span different spatial and temporal scales, from micro-mechanical structures to large-scale infrastructure. Applications: Leveraging these concepts in aerospace, robotics, energy systems, healthcare technologies, and beyond. We are often involved in combining analytical techniques, computational methods, experimental validation, and real-world applications to develop robust, adaptable, and efficient systems.
