Bio

August 2021, Dr. Whitley was appointed Associate Dean for Undergraduate Student Affairs for the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
September 2016, Dr. Whitley was appointed Interim Associate Dean for the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. She joined the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication faculty as assistant professor and broadcast production coordinator in August 2001. Whitley was promoted to associate professor in 2006. She came to North Carolina A&T State University in February 1984 as the Visual Communications Specialist for the Agricultural Research and Extension Programs in the School of Agriculture.

Research Interests

First-generation college students, student retention, visual ethnography, scholarship of teaching.
