Bio

Dr. Justin J. Adams, Assistant Professor, Joined the faculty at the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in the Spring of 2020. Dr. Adams received his PhD in Counselor Education andSupervision from The University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC and Master’s in Clinical Mental Health from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. Dr. Adams is a nationally certified counselor and has experience working in clinical and school settings.

Research Interests

His research interest include: recruitment and retention of minority students in counselor education, Hip-Hop/Rap Therapeutic interventions, Critical Race Theory, misdiagnosis of minority students in K-12 settings, and College Counseling of Black students. Dr. Adams is a member of several professional organizations including the American Counseling Association, Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, Association for Research and Assessment in Counseling, and Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development.
