Bio

Christopher Hale received his B.S. in Material Science and Engineering from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, AL in 1998 and was chosen Material Science Student of the Year in 1998. After leaving UAB, Christopher left for the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL to obtain his M.S. in Metallurgical Engineering under his advisor, Dr. Mark Weaver. Christopher graduated with a 3.8 and went to work in industry for approximately 20 years with a few companies including General Electric. He returned to academia in 2018 to work under Dr. Jagannathan Sankar at North Carolina A&T State University, where he obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering. Currently, Christopher works as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist with Dr. Sankar's team in the Fort IRC building.

Research Interests

Christopher Hale conducts research in a variety of areas including lightweight alloys located in the Fort IRC building. His focus is in magnesium alloys using technologies including optical microscopy (OM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) for the characterization of alloys. He has published both journal and conference papers in these areas.
