Bio
Dr. Margaret Muyue Han is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. She earned her Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of Illinois Chicago and an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Irvine. Her research centers on understanding the fundamentals in additive manufacturing of advanced materials, coupled with using engineering methodologies and computational tools to explore smart and sustainable manufacturing practices for future applications. Margaret’s work in understanding the core principles underpinning additive manufacturing of stimuli-responsive shape memory materials (i.e., 4D printing) establishes critical links between material-process-performance relationships and sustainability metrics across process and life cycle performance perspectives. Her research facilitates the realization of sustainable, intelligent, and resilient manufacturing paradigms.
