NORTH CAROLINA A&T'S CHANCELLOR-ELECT
 

James R. Martin II, Ph.D., was elected as the 13th chancellor of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University on June 21, 2024, by a vote of the University of North Carolina System Board of Governors, following his nomination by UNC System President Peter Hans.

Chancellor-elect Martin begins work in the new role on August 15, 2024.

ncatsealblue.jpgSince its establishment in 1891 as the Agricultural and Mechanical College for the Colored Race, our institution has had six presidents and 12 chancellors. The chief executive officer's role was changed from president to chancellor in 1972, when North Carolina A&T became a constituent campus of the University of North Carolina System.

As N.C. A&T's 13th chancellor, Chancellor-elect Martin will succeed Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr., who has served in that capacity since 2009. Martin Sr. will remain in the position until Chancellor-elect Martin begins work on August 15, 2024.
