This event is free and open to the public.

For the past 13 years, the annual celebration of Dr. Martin L. King Jr. has been a collaborative effort among North Carolina A&T State University, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Guilford Technical Community College, Greensboro College and Guilford College.

The 2026 collective theme is: “Mission Possible II: Building Community, Uniting a Nation the Non-Violent Way.”

This year’s commemoration will be held on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro at 6:30 p.m. in the UNCG Auditorium (College of Visual & Performing Arts).

The program will feature:

  • Official welcome from a UNC-Greensboro representative
  • Student-led panel discussion reflecting on Dr. King’s legacy
  • Musical selections by N.C. A&T State University’s Fellowship Gospel Choir
  • Reception and additional presentations
