On behalf of the Genomic Research and Data Science Center for Computation and Cloud Computing (GRADS-4C), we are pleased to announce “Genomics for Non-Biologists."

This virtual workshop will take place  Dec. 12, 2024, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Workshop Overview: Join us for an engaging and collaborative workshop on genomics, tailored for individuals from non-biological fields who are curious about how cutting-edge genomic technologies impact diverse areas such as data science, engineering, healthcare and environmental studies.

This workshop aims to provide a comprehensive overview of genomics, including key methodologies such as sequencing technologies, data analysis approaches, and functional genomics tools, as well as addressing major unresolved research questions in the field. The second half of the discussion will focus on past and ongoing genomics research projects, highlighting significant findings and their impact on advancing our understanding of genetics and biology.

Speakers are GRADS-4C Program Director Joseph Graves Jr., Ph.D., Mackenzie Scott Endowed Professor of Biology at A&T, and GRADS-4C Site Principal Investigator Akamu Jude Ewunkem, Ph.D., an assistant professor at Winston-Salem State University.
