EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Oct. 29, 2024) – Three student organizations at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will present an annual Political Economy event with panel discussions featuring insights from state Sen. Gladys Robinson, a two-time N.C. A&T alumna, and Greensboro City Councilman Hugh Holston.

This event, hosted by the Aggie Economic Association (AEA), Political Science Society (PSS) and Exceptional Males in Business (EMB), will be Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m. in Frye Hall (formerly the Academic Classroom Building), Auditorium 101, 1601 E. Market St.

“This is our second or third time putting on this event, but it’s extra special this year because it is election time,” said Adonna McBride, senior and AEA vice president. “This is just the perfect time for students to come and become educated on what’s going on policy-wise.”

This event will include a panel discussion and question-and-answer session to explore voter advocacy and the connections between economics and politics, with a focus on the Greensboro economy and the Tuesday, Nov. 5, general election.

Alfredo Romero, Ph.D., interim Department of Economics chair in the Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics, will moderate the discussion. He also will engage Robinson and Holston in conversations about how economics impact their positions, civic engagement and student advocacy.

The event is open to students, with no registration required.
