North Carolina A&T is committed to providing a safe environment for minors (individuals under 18) who participate in university-sponsored programs or events held on campus. The Protection of Minors Policy outlines the responsibilities of faculty, staff, students, volunteers, and third parties in ensuring the safety and well-being of all youth participants.

Training & Background Checks-Adults working directly with minors (Covered Individuals) must complete annual Protection of Minors training and undergo a background check before participation. Supervision Standards-Programs must maintain appropriate supervision ratios and avoid one-on-one unsupervised interactions between adults and minors.

Mandatory Reporting- All suspicions or reports of abuse, neglect, or inappropriate conduct involving minors must be reported immediately to University Police and child protective services as required by law.

Code of Conduct-Covered Individuals must follow clear behavioral guidelines when interacting with minors, including no private communications via social media, no physical punishment, and no sharing of private living spaces.

Emergency Procedures- Programs must have a clear safety plan in place for emergencies, medical needs, and student accountability.
