N.C. A&T CLRC to Host Plenary on Graduate School and Career Paths for Ph.D.s Featuring Dr. William F. Godoy
The Computational and Life Sciences Research Center (CLRC) at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will host a special plenary session on “Pursuing Graduate School & Career Paths for Ph.D.s” with Dr. William F. Godoy of Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
The event will take place Friday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. PT via Zoom.
Dr. Godoy, a senior computer scientist in the Computational Science and Mathematics Division at Oak Ridge National Lab, will share insights on navigating career pathways for graduate students in science. His talk will highlight opportunities in academia, national laboratories, and industry, while also addressing the importance of collaboration networks, professional societies, and the expectations for scientists at early, mid, and senior career stages.
Godoy earned his Ph.D. in 2009 from the University at Buffalo, SUNY, and has held roles as a senior software engineer at Intel and a postdoctoral fellow at NASA Langley. His research focuses on high performance computing (HPC), programming models, AI for HPC software, and scientific workflows. He is a senior member of IEEE and a member of ACM and ASME.
