Enabling Appalachia’s Economic Mobility through Demand-driven Intermodal and Multimodal Mobility Option

Join us for an engaging virtual seminar featuring Karen Lightman, executive director of Safety21 (a US DOT National University Transportation Center) and Metro21: Smart Cities Institute at Carnegie Mellon University.

This session will explore a multi-state, demand-driven approach to improving economic mobility in Appalachian communities through integrated intermodal and multimodal transportation solutions. The presentation will highlight findings from an ARC ARISE Planning Grant project, including real-world data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and a pilot deployment in Greene County, Pennsylvania, demonstrating the impact of hybrid fixed-route and on-demand transit services.

Sponsored by the Center for Regional & Rural Connected Communities (CR2C2).

The event is free and open to the public.
