The Honors College Research Symposium

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (April 14, 2025) – The Honors College at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will host its first research symposium Wednesday, April 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Taking place in the Deese Ballroom at the Student Center, 1403 John W. Mitchell Drive, this event is designed to showcase the work of Honors College students and foster a culture of research and academic engagement.

The symposium will bring together approximately 100 participants, including students, faculty, staff and administrators. It will feature oral and poster presentations from undergraduate students across a variety of disciplines, representing multiple academic colleges within N.C. A&T, as well as networking opportunities.

While the primary presenters are students from the Honors College, students outside of the college are invited to contribute as well. Prizes will be awarded to the best oral and poster presentations.

Renowned nanoscientist Sherine Obare, Ph.D., vice chancellor for research and engagement at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) will serve as the plenary session speaker. She is the former dean of the A&T-UNCG Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, having led major research and economic initiatives, including partnerships with the Army.

Obare has published more than 100 papers, secured more than $20 million in funding and received multiple awards. She is also dedicated to STEM education and student training. She holds a Ph.D. in chemistry and previously held leadership roles at Western Michigan University.
