  • Marc Fiddler, Ph.D.
Marc FiddlerMarc Fiddler, Ph.D., is a senior research associate at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. He received his B.S. in chemistry from Pennsylvania State University and Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from Purdue University. His research interests are in instrumentation for characterizing and collecting atmospheric particles. In particular, he is interested in emissions from biomass burning in Africa, and air quality and urban heat issues in socioeconomically disadvantaged communities in the US. His research utilizes various spectroscopic techniques, such as cavity ring-down spectroscopy and mass spectrometry, to characterize the chemical, physical, and optical properties of atmospheric aerosols. • Vaios Moschos, Ph.D.
Vaios MoschosVaios Moschos, Ph.D., was born in Volos, Greece. He studied chemical engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki under an integrated Master of Engineering curriculum, graduating with honors in 2015. He then obtained an M.S. in micro and nanosystems (with a focus on particle technology) at ETH Zürich in 2017 and proceeded with Ph.D. studies in the Laboratory of Atmospheric Chemistry at the Paul Scherrer Institute, successfully defending in 2021. His main expertise includes the source apportionment of climate-relevant atmospheric organic aerosol mass and brown carbon absorption with enhanced spatiotemporal coverage. His current postdoctoral research is focused on the molecular characterization of light-absorbing primary and aged aerosols from burning African biomass fuels.
